Learning Platforms

The Living Library

The Living Library is the main output of the Erasmus+ project ‘The Living Book’. The Living Book combines reading and digital creativity to promote a love for reading among 9-15 year-old students. The Living Library is a collection of media created by young people based on a book or section of a book. The library is available in 6 languages, with different books for each language, based on the most popular books being read in schools in those countries.
The Living Library is social, with all of the usual social media features available to users. These social features are used to organise online reading groups (a unique feature on the web), share media, and follow other users and books. The Living Library also contains the other resources produced by the project partners - Methodology guidelines, Lesson Plans, Toolkits, and eLearning. Gryd developed The Living Library and associated features including; media stream in each book to embed media from any media website, automated QR code generation for each piece of media, social media system, and lesson plan creator. We also produced the toolkits which show how to use a range of apps and tools to create digital media.

RoboQuests / Robotics for Schools

Robotics for Schools was a European Union Erasmus+ project which helped bridge the gap between learners, teachers and curriculum planners in Robotics education. The project partners developed a series of resources to help educators gain skills in robotics, coding and computational thinking. We also created a series of real world challenges, called ‘RoboQuests’, using the WebQuest methodology. The challenges can be used directly by pupils, with supporting Teacher Notes available to educators after logging in.
RoboQuests are offered at three levels, depending on prior knowledge and skills of robotics and coding. They feature an Introduction to the real-world scenario, Design Task, Design Process, Conclusion and Expected Learning Outcomes. They are supported by links to web resources, documents and videos to help the young people complete the challenge. The login-only Teachers Notes contain further information to help educators such as coding examples. The platform also features the project’s publications, project information and blog.
Gryd developed the Robotics for Schools platform, RoboQuests features, RoboQuest publishing tool for partners and digital timeline.

Grandmas Story

Grandma’s Story is an Erasmus+ project which aims to share the female story of migration, through the stories of Grandmothers. Stories and memories of migration and integration of an older generation of women, the ‘Grandmothers’, are seldom collected or retold.
Gryd developed the Grandma’s Story platform with the aim of it being used both for online viewing and in pop-up exhibitions in a museum environment. It is available in six languages. The platform features video interviews of grandmothers, with supporting text, images, and map showing their birthplace and current home they migrated to. It also features a series of Trainer Modules aimed at youth workers wanting to work with young people to create more stories; along with tutorial videos, flipbook publications, and general information about the project and partners.
Gryd developed a story creator tool for partners, youth workers and young people to use to create the stories; along with a Trainer Module publishing tool for partners.
